Liberty High School’s graduating Class of 2025 has achieved a historic milestone, securing more than $20.9 million in scholarship offers. This remarkable total is part of the Peoria Unified School District’s record-breaking $110.9 million in scholarships—over $12 million more than last year’s district record—demonstrating the exceptional academic and personal achievements of this year’s seniors.
The accomplishments of Liberty students were celebrated at the school’s Senior Awards Ceremony, held on May 14, where the community gathered to honor the hard work, dedication, and diverse talents of the Class of 2025. Students received scholarships for excellence in academics, athletics, the arts, community service, and leadership, reflecting the wide range of passions and pathways pursued by Liberty graduates.
Liberty students made an especially strong showing among Arizona’s top universities. Scholarships totaled $3.6 million for Arizona State University, $5.1 million for Northern Arizona University, and $2.1 million for the University of Arizona. Additionally, Liberty seniors were awarded $1.1 million in academic scholarships from Grand Canyon University, and $316,160 from Maricopa Community Colleges through the Presidential Honors Scholars program.
Students were also recognized for scholarships from private and community organizations, receiving $486,852 from institutions such as Embry Riddle University, Arizona Christian University, The Elks Lodge, The Rotary Club, and the Phoenix Film Festival. The scope of student achievement extended well beyond state borders, with Liberty seniors earning $4.7 million from out-of-state universities, including Point Loma Nazarene University, Howard University, the Culinary Institute of America – New York, Montana State, New York University, and the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Several Liberty students have also chosen to serve in the United States Armed Forces, receiving a collective $1,050,000 in military scholarship awards. Among them is Ella Cook, who participates in AFJROTC at Cactus High School. She earned both the Air Force ROTC and Navy ROTC scholarships, each valued at up to $200,000, and will be pursuing a degree in Meteorology at the University of Arizona.
Juliann Bruyneel is another Liberty senior committing to military service, having accepted a $200,000 scholarship from the U.S. Navy. With this support, Juliann will earn a degree in Nuclear Engineering at the school of her choice. Her decision reflects not only academic excellence but a strong commitment to service and a future in one of the nation’s most advanced technical fields.
Other standout recipients include Lauren Davis, who will attend MIT; Saayida Bain, who received a scholarship to Howard University; Jack Thompson, who earned a scholarship to the Culinary Institute of America in New York; and Tristen Raymond, who will attend Point Loma Nazarene University.
Across an impressive array of post-secondary institutions, Liberty High School’s Class of 2025 has demonstrated ambition, talent, and determination.
